Book
I have undertaken this History of Royal Liver Friendly Society by concentrating on key and core chronological periods in the overall growth and development of the Society.
These key time periods, which then form the building blocks of the Chapters in the various Volumes of Royal Liver’s history, can be broken down into the following:-
Part I – Dignity in Poverty – 1850 – 1886
Part II – A New Beginning – Royal Liver – The People’s Society – 1887 – 1900
Part III – Before and Between the Wars – 1900 – 1933
Part IV – Out of the Darkness – 1933 – 1954
Part V – The Urgent Need for Change – 1954 – 1975
Part VI – Further Change and increased Modernisation – 1976 – 1990
Part VII – The years leading to Incorporation – 1990 – 1994
Part VIII – The Post-Incorporation Years – “The Royal Liver Group~” – 1994 – 2011
In order to make the narrative more manageable and digestible, I shall be releasing the detailed History of Royal Liver Friendly Society in three or four volumes each dealing broadly with spans of 50 years or so:-
1850 – 1900
1900 – 1950
1850 – 2000
2000 – 2011
The initial blogs and posts which will form the basis of this Website will deal in the main with the first 50 years of Royal Liver’s existence – 1850 – 1900. Later posts will deal with Royal Liver’s ongoing development into the 1900s and in the early part of the new millennium (2000 -2011).
